This is the speech we should have got late in the day on 9/11/2001:
My fellow Americans. Our nation was savagely attacked today by an ideology not our own. Some 3,000 innocent people were murdered by islamic terrorists bent on the destruction of the United States and our ally and friend, Israel. This act of war against us prompted me to order our military forces to destroy those who sponsor and advocate our demise.
As a result, I have confirmation that US bombers with nuclear payloads have achieved mission success on the cities of Bagdad, Tehran and Cairo.
We are prepared to select three additional cities at a time of our choosing if those who oppose us do not heed this warning and join us by condemning this act of war and by working with us to stop the global spread of Islamic terrorism.
